  • The year-long Birth Centenary celebrations of legendary classical singer Pandit Bhimsen Joshi will begin on February 04, 2020.
  • Recently, the Villupuram district administration in Tamil Nadu has issued the first declaration under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The declaration was issued in a bid to declare Kaliveli wetlands as a bird sanctuary.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘Chauri Chaura’ Centenary Celebrations at Chauri Chaura, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh on February 4, 2021.  The day marks 100 years of the ‘Chauri Chaura’ incident, a landmark event in the country’s fight for independence.
  • The International Day of Human Fraternity was celebrated on February 4, 2021 by the United Nations. 2021 theme: ‘A Pathway to the Future’.
  • Recently, the launch vehicle Stardust 1.0 was launched from a former military base in US called Loring Commerce Centre. The launch of the vehicle is significant in the light that this is the 1st commercial space launch that is powered by biofuel.

03rd February 2021

  • Aero India 2021 is being organised at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru by the Department of Defence Production of the Defence Ministry from February 3 to 5, 2021. Its theme is: ‘A Runway to a Billion Opportunities’.
  • A unified web portal launched for monitoring progress of Gobardhan scheme activities across the nation. Gobardhan scheme was launched in 2018 to manage the prevailing issues of bio-waste in villages including cattle waste and converting them into biogas and organic manure thus providing economic benefits to farmers and households.
  • The government on February 3, 2021 formally sealed the Rs 48,000 crore deal to procure 83 Tejas light combat aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.
  • Pakistan on February 3, 2021 said it has successfully test-fired the nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi which can strike targets up to 290 kilometres.

  • The Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh, has launched the ‘Har Ghar Pani, Har Ghar Safai’ mission virtually. This mission is the part of the government’s campaign to complete the goal of 100 per cent potable piped water supply in all rural households by March 2022.
  • The Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama have recently launched his new book “The Little Book of Encouragement”. The book comprises of 130 quotes. The book has been edited by Renuka Singh while published by Penguin Random House.
  • World Wetlands Day is celebrated internationally each year on 2 February. It marks the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) in Ramsar, Iran, on 2 February 1971. The 2021 theme is ‘Wetlands and Water’. The Central government has announced that, it will soon set up a new Centre for Wetland Conservation and Management (CWCM) in Chennai.
  • Aatmanirbharta’ implying self-reliance has been named by Oxford Languages as its Hindi word of the year 2020 as it “validated the day-to-day achievements of the countless Indians who dealt with and survived the perils of a pandemic”.
  • HDFC Bank on February 2, 2021 said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed an external IT firm for carrying out a special audit of its IT infrastructure in the aftermath of repeated service outages at the country’s largest private sector lender over the past two years.

  • Lt Gen Chandi Prasad Mohanty on February 1, 2021 took charge as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, succeeding Lt Gen SK Saini. Lt Gen Mohanty was heading the Army’s Southern Command prior to this appointment.
  • The 2021-22 Union Budget was presented by Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, 2021
  • The Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman, has announced two new centrally sponsored scheme namely, the PM AatmaNirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana and the Mission Poshan 2.0 while presenting the Union Budget 2021
  • India got 10th rank in a newly launched Asia-Pacific Personalised Health Index among 11 Asia Pacific countries. It is Published by the economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)
  • The Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman, has announced in the Budget 2021 that the government have planned to reduce the compliances for one person companies (OPC). This would help in promotion of the entrepreneurship and innovation in India.
  • The Finance minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman, have proposed for the “Voluntary Vehicle Scrappage Policy”. This proposal was made during the presentation of the Union Budget for Financial Year 2022. The voluntary vehicle scrappage policy will help to scrap out the unfit and pollution-causing vehicles.
  • The Bangladesh Authorities recently moved around 1,750 Rohingya Muslims to a controversial island in the Bay of Bengal called the “Bhashan Char Island”. Bhashan Char The island is also known as Char Piya.
  • The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change has released the National Marine Turtle Action Plan.
  • The Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, announced during the Union Budget 2021 presentation that the Government has proposed a “Mega Investment Textiles Parks (MITRA) scheme”. The scheme will enable the textile industry to become globally competitive. It will help the industries to attract large investments and boost employment generation besides boosting the exports.
